Chicago Scholars

Chicago Scholars: Committed to College and Career Success
Thanks for your interest in being a Chicago Scholar. Our Scholars are students from high schools all over Chicago with college ambitions. They are primarily from low-income families and are often the first in their families to attend college. Here is some information you’ll need as you decide to apply.

Scholars apply as high school juniors
We offer a five year program to support you as you apply to and then go through college. If you’re interested in going to college but maybe a little confused by how to go about it, that’s where being a Chicago Scholar can help. We look for energetic and promising high school juniors determined to make the most of their high school and college experiences. Scholars receive support in the college application process and in career exploration once in college. You will also have an adult mentor and then a peer mentor to help you along the way.

But we’re more than just a program, we’re a community. Scholars present and past are eager to stay in touch, contribute their skills, and give back to those coming after them.
