High Schools

The core high school computer science courses consist of two offerings:

  • The Exploring Computer Science (ECS) course is a part of a University/K-12 partnership committed to democratizing computer science knowledge by increasing learning opportunities at the high school level for all students, with a specific focus on access for traditionally underrepresented students.
  • AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) course is designed to be far more rigorous, engaging, and approachable course, exploring many of computing’s big foundational ideas so that all students grasp how these concepts are transforming the world we live in.  The College Board is projecting SY 2016-17 as the launch date for the new exam. In order to scale CS Principles throughout the country and support educators in teaching the new course, CS for All offers the customizable, blended-learning AP Computer Science Principles curriculum at the high school level.

Professional Development - Nationwide, there is a shortage of credentialed computer science teachers to deliver the instruction needed.  Through our external partnerships, CPS is able to provide existing teachers with a high quality professional development series that provides teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality computer science instruction. Once a teacher had gone through the training series, they join a community of educators and practitioners working together to continuously improve their strategies for teaching and learning.
