Students who are interested in applying their artistic talent to practical real-world problems or who want to be a producer, director, journalist, website designer, video game programmer, and multimedia artist can explore their interests and find the right career path for them.

Broadcast TechnologyShow More

Students in the Broadcast Technology pathway learn the fundamentals of working in front of the camera, as well as what goes on behind the scenes. Students write scripts, create PSA’s, design visual materials, join local and national competitions and study broadcasting operations and management.

Students are introduced to the latest software applications in the Digital Media industry including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign. Once they are able to comfortably navigate the software, students build their design skills and use industry standard equipment to bring their ideas to life by creating ads, posters and dynamic visual presentations.

How to Participate

College and Career Academy Application

8th Graders
If you would like to attend a CTE Academy for high school, you should:

  • Learn about the different programs on this site
  • Choose the schools and academies you want to apply to
  • Then apply online at www.apply.cps.edu
  • 2015 application will open October 1st

Freshmen
If you are attending a high school with a CTE Academy or CTE School Option program and want to participate should speak with your counselor.

Application Information
The application process for College and Career Academies is very similar to other CPS high school programs such as Magnet and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. The academy application process is part of CPS’s Options for Knowledge program managed by the Office of Access and Enrollment (OAE).
