As a student in the Medical Assistant program you develop administrative and clinical skills related to the principles of medical assisting. You will get first-hand experience in the field through performing common clerical duties, handling patient/client data files, preparing patients for procedures, performing basic laboratory tests, and carrying out clinical duties such as taking vital signs, sterilizing instruments, preparing patients for procedures, and performing basic laboratory tests.

College and Career Academy Application

8th Graders
If you would like to attend a CTE Academy for high school, you should:

  • Learn about the different programs on this site
  • Choose the schools and academies you want to apply to
  • Then apply online at www.apply.cps.edu
  • 2015 application will open October 1st

Freshmen
If you are attending a high school with a CTE Academy or CTE School Option program and want to participate should speak with your counselor.

Application Information
The application process for College and Career Academies is very similar to other CPS high school programs such as Magnet and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. The academy application process is part of CPS’s Options for Knowledge program managed by the Office of Access and Enrollment (OAE).
